The Milton Theatre is an intimate 212 seat, historic theatre which has been fully refurbished with latest sound and lighting equipment, located at the entrance to the historic timber and dairy town called MIlton, 220 kms south of Sydney.

ARTIST BOOKINGS: The Milton Theatre Committee Inc. books a variety of artists and performers. The deal includes a venue fee to cover costs of cleaning, electricty, advertising, ticket printing, flyers, distribution of posters, front of house, sound and lighting technicians. Door takings are then split with the majority percentage going to the performer. The Committee can also apply for a liquor license and run a bar on the night. VENUE HIRE: The Milton Theatre is available for hire by members of the Shoalhaven community and community groups based in the Shoalhaven.

HIRE FEES AND CHARGES: 1 July 2014 to 30 June 2015 NOTE: These fees are for hire of the venue only. They do not include use/operation of the stage lights, sound or projector. Sound and lighting equipment MUST be operated by the venue's in house technician. This fee to be determined on application.

Originally the Milton School of Arts built in 1927, the Milton Theatre has a long history as a major feature of the Milton community landscape. It was a picture theatre from 1929 with dancing and other community events and activities, then from 1976 until 1993 the theatre was used solely as a movie theatre until it was closed for extensive renovations. These were carried out in 1997 and the theatre has been managed by a community based management committee under the Shoalhaven City Council. The building is now used for live theatre, a recording studio and for community performances with some of the biggest local and international artists gracing the big stage at Milton. Some of the acts that have played are: JUSTIN TOWNES-EARL, TONY JOE WHITE, HARRY MANX, DIESEL, MARK SEYMOUR, JOHN WATERS (Looking through a Glass Onion).

COMMERCIAL HIRERS: Theatre Hire - $164 per hour - minimum 2 hrs NEW FEE - Daily Hire $1200. Contact the Milton Theatre booking agent: Kathleen Evans, mobile 0475 206 622, or email us.

COMMUNITY GROUPS: Theatre Hire - $85 per hour - minimum 2 hrs All fees inc GST

BOND: A refundable bond applies to all hires, minimum $500, maximum $2000 depending on type of booking. All fees above include access to the kitchen for tea and coffee making facilities. Hirers are to provide own crockery, cutlery etc.
